Thought for Today 5.24.26

I started this blog because I felt that I had a lot to write about. I had a lot going on in my brain that I just needed to get out. But since it's Genesis, I have become blocked.

I started reading my Bible so that I could have a closer walk with God. Before beginning to read, I asked God, where I should start and of course, the answer was in the Beginning. So I started in Genesis and am now in the book of Judges. I must honestly say, though, that knowing how wonderful and full of promises and hope that the New Testament is, I am having the hardest time getting through the beginning.

It has been nice to run across scripture however, that I recognize, such as when Jesus said, "It is written that man should not live by bread alone," I have found where it was written.

I also must honestly say that reading the books in the Old Testament has been a little depressing. There is so much war, and killing. For example, when the Children of Israel were making war with inhabitants of cities, they even killed women and children. This made me very sad.

So, I feel a little stuck, trying to get to a better place. Trying to find hope and encouragement for all of the things that are going on in my own personal life, I turned to the Bible. But that seems to be even more discouraging. However, I can only hold on and power through, because I know this won't last forever, and better is coming. That is the hope that I hold onto.
