Balance

It seems that I spend a lot more time reflecting and talking to God when I am in nature and away from all of the busyness of life. This weekend I had quite a spiritual experience. Todd and I spent the Independence Day weekend camping at South Toledo Bend State Park. I had just accepted a "400,000 steps in the month of July" challenge from my Air Guard unit and was out getting my steps in. I often listen to Joel Osteen on my phone while walking. However, the internet signal was iffy, making the message stop often.

The particular message this day was about Elijah running from Jezebel. It's funny because I was just getting to 1st Kings in my reading where Elijah was first introduced into the Bible. Elijah had run for 24 hours straight and was tired. He was so tired that he was actually praying for death. However, God sent an Angel to feed him and get him prepared for the rest of his journey. Joel went on the talk about how our lives need a perfect balance between the spiritual, mental and physical. For instance, if we over fuel the physical and leave out the spiritual and mental then we get out of balance.

As the internet signal came and went, it seemed like I was hearing the message as God intended for me to hear it. I would hear the message, it would pause giving me time to reflect on what I had just heard, then I would respond, talking to God. It felt like God and I were having a conversation.

But the message itself was very clear to me. God was telling me that I needed to start spending more time on my mental and spiritual fitness. Since the car wreck, I have spent so much time focusing on my physical recovery that I have been more tired than I have ever been in my life. With all the battles that I have been fighting, I was emotionally, physically and spiritually drained. I was completely burned out.

Again, God was faithful to send me the exact message, exactly when I needed it and He made sure to pause the message enough so that I would actually hear it and reflect upon it.

Mother's Day

Tomorrow is Mother's Day. As I reflect on the times that I spent with my mother, I wonder how many times that I made her cry. I think about the many times that I possibly hurt her. Oh how I wish I
